The founder of MMM Sergey Mavrodi died

In Moscow, at the age of 62, the founder of the largest financial pyramid in Russia MMM MMM, Sergei Mavrodi, died. This was reported by "Moscow Komsomolets".

According to the publication, on Monday, at about one in the morning of the night, Mavrodi was hospitalized in the 67th city hospital from the bus stop on Polikarpov Street, located near the Begovaya metro station in the north-west of the capital. An ambulance was called by a passerby, whom Mavrodi complained of weakness and pain in his heart.

In the morning the patient died.

Interfax set out the events differently. According to the agency, Mavrodi found unconscious early in the morning at a trolleybus stop near the Savelovsky station. He died, said in the publication, not in the 67th, but in the Botkin Hospital.

The exact cause of death will be established by autopsy. So far, according to Interfax, it is assumed that Mavrodi died either from heart failure or from hypothermia.

Mavrodi was born in the capital, graduated from the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics. He worked at the Research Institute. In 1983, the OBHSS was detained for "private entrepreneurial activity" - the sale of videos. However, the case was never discovered against him, since just at that time the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU "On Excitements" was issued.

In 1989, Mavrodi founded the cooperative MMM. Subsequently, several dozen commercial structures were created on its base, including MMM JSC. On February 1, 1994, the shares of this company received free sale. Over the next six months, 15 million citizens acquired them. Promotions rose 127 times. MMM JSC accumulated a third of the entire Russian budget.

In August 1994, Mavrodi was arrested on charges of tax fraud. While in jail, he nominated for a candidate at the benefits of the State Duma. Mavrodi won the election and was released from the pre -trial detention center. However, already in 1995, the State Duma deprived Mavrodi of the mandate.

In 1997, MMM was declared bankrupt. Mavrodi himself was first announced to the federal, and then on the international wanted list. For more than five years, the suspect lived locked up in a rented apartment in Moscow, until he was detained in January 2003. Mavrodi was again arrested. In April 2007, he was sentenced to four and a half years in general regime on charges of fraud; The next month, the convict left the pre -trial detention center upon departure of the deadline.

In 2011, Mavrodi founded a new pyramid for residents of Russia and the CIS countries-MMM-2011, a year later, reorganized in MMM-2012. The pyramid crashed. In 2014, he opened the MMM-Global project focused on Africa and Asia countries. In December 2017, he announced the launch of his own cryptocurrency Mavro.

In 2012, a group of shareholders of MMM advanced to the elections to the Coordinating Council of the opposition. The Central Electoral Committee refused them to register. After that, the shareholders submitted a denunciation to the Prosecutor General of the Chairman of the Central Executive Committee Leonid Volkov. The case of theft of funds transferred to the CVC by shareholders as organizational contributions was opened. It did not get to the court.
