Recall that the GetContact application was released in popularity in the Russian version of the App Store store at the end of February. Among other things, the program allows the user who installed it on the device to find out under what name his number is recorded in people from the list of contacts. The description of GetContact says that the program "shares the identification information and photography of the calling at the time of receipt of the call, and also protects against harmful and marketing calls, blocking them." So, using GetContact, the user can find out who exactly calls him, even if this number is not in his notebook. The base of names and phones is formed at the expense of users who have established the program - GetContact receives information about how this or that number is recorded in the contacts of other subscribers.
According to experts, which has gained popularity not only in Russia, the application is not so harmless. For example, the user agreement notes that GetContact can share any personal or corporate information with any third party and collect data using various tools and methods for statistical purposes. The company can also collect data using third parties. In addition, GetContact developers reserve the right to share contact lists, user accounts on social networks, photographs, email addresses and call records.
On March 1, it became known that Roskomnadzor is checking the application for compliance with the requirements of Russian laws. "Profile specialists of Roskomnadzor began to analyze the GetContact mobile application for compliance with the legislation on personal data. In case of violations, response measures will be taken, up to the sending of a statement of claim to the court to restrict access to this application in the Russian Federation," the department said.
Note that earlier GetContact was banned in some CIS countries. So, the application was blocked in Kazakhstan. Soon after, local developers created their own analogue of the application, but the authorities also blocked this version of the program. In early February, the application ceased to be accessible to Azerbaijani users. At the same time, in December, the Armenian media reported that GetContact users managed to install telephone numbers of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife.
