The spontaneous protest of the inhabitants of Kolomna continues against the landfill "Volovichi". People blocked the road with garbage trucks, demanding from officials a “intelligible dialogue” and actions. They are afraid of “repetition of Volokolamsk”, where the overload of the landfill led to uncontrolled emissions of the landfill gas (the latter was recorded yesterday, according to meters, the level of hydrogen sulfide was exceeded 87 times) and put the region on the face of an ecological disaster. The authorities, promising to solve the problem, sent police detachments to the protesters.

On Wednesday, on the entrance to the Volovichi training ground, where local residents were on duty for the sixth day, reinforced police outfits arrived in complete combat uniforms: body armor, spheres, clubs. At that time, about 100 citizens were on duty there. At first, the police lined up in the chain perpendicular to the highway, then this chain slowly began to move forward, clearing the road and displacing people on the side of the road. Those who did not immediately go aside grabbed and boarded the buses, which later took the protesters to the Kolomna police department.

“It was evident that police officers were waiting for provocations on our part, political slogans or causing behavior,” said Irina Naletova, a “new” resident of Kolomna. - This would justify their actions. But we are just local residents who defend their civil rights and rights of our children to clean air and normal life. ”

Recall, on March 25, the inhabitants of Kolomna blocked the road at the landfill demanding to stop the import of "alien garbage". Initially, the Volovichi landfill was served by the Kolomensky district and partially adjacent to it. However, since last year, after the closure of a number of other landfills in the suburbs, the load on “Volovichi” has increased significantly, and the technology of garbage recycling, according to activists, has completely ceased to be observed.

Residents began to smell hydrogen sulfide, fish began to die in rivers and lakes, children began to complain about poor health.

People created an initiative group and began to contact all instances - from the municipal department of nature management to the Ministry of Health and Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision. However, they could not achieve any actions from the authorities.

It is important to note that the inhabitants of Kolomna do not require closing the landfill. They require its reclamation and degassing, that is, the proper disposal of existing waste and the return to the previous volumes of processing.

After 57 children with signs of poisoning were taken to the hospital in Volokolamsk after the next release of landing gas, the inhabitants of Kolomna spontaneously went to the training ground. They organized a shut -off duty, launched a field kitchen, brought firewood and did not let garbage trucks with “alien garbage”.

“We check the contract with each driver where it is spelled out where he is taking the garbage,” Irina explains. - If these are our district waste, we miss. Moscow - no. And we are not going to leave here until the authorities begin the dialogue with them. ”

On the third day of standing to the protesters, the mayor of Kolomna Denis Lebedev arrived and invited the activists to his office “for a meeting”. The initiative group went to him. Lebedev promised to consult with the government of the Moscow region and solve the problem. And the next day, the police arrived at the Volovichi training ground.

On that day, about 20 people were detained. They took oral explanations from them. For three, protocols of administrative violations were drawn up. As soon as activists were released from the police department at about ten in the evening, almost all of them returned back to the training ground.

People were boiling: the authorities promised negotiations, and instead sent the police.

After an attempt to accelerate to the landfill, new protesters hurriedly began to go. And by 11 o’clock in the evening, as eyewitnesses say, about 500 people were on duty at the landfill.

On Friday, the initiative group again intends to meet with mayor Denis Lebedev.
