Students of the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) accused the university leadership of censorship after it deleted the recording of the meeting of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov with students as part of the educational talk show.
An open letter of students states that they were not informed about the arrival of Peskov as a guest at the student talk show of the faculty "to the point". The program was recording in university television studio.
“Already at the end of the interview, Peskov asked to leave all the shot off the record. The students did not report anything about this format. We are very puzzled and disappointed with what happened and have a number of questions for the leadership of the faculty,” the students said.
They were not only not informed about the arrival of Peskov on the air, but they could not just get to a current show. "According to some reports, the editors of the program selected students and personally invited them, forming closed lists," the open letter said.
"Why was the recording of the program classified? How were the guests selected? Why, after an unacceptable comparison of journalists with prostitutes, no one had questions? Why did the dialogue moderators say nothing?" - Students ask questions.
Students of the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design also outraged an interview with the head of the HSE educational program "Journalism" Sergey Korzun, who on the air of "Echo of Moscow" said that the record of the current show with the participation of Peskov "to decide the leadership of the faculty will not be published anywhere."
“We believe that this is censorship, moreover, censorship by the Faculty of Journalism. The faculty, where for four years we have been taught journalistic ethics. We do not agree with the position of leadership and do not want it to be identified with the position of all students of our faculty and the entire Higher School of Economics,” the students summed up.
It should be noted that during the talk show, the press secretary of Vladimir Putin made a numberof high-profile statements , including the journalists complaining of harassment , and alsomentioned the "prohibited" opposition Alexei Navalny.
Peskov himself "was satisfied with" the ether. This was told by Kommersant's chief editor of the Tok show Daria Pechenina. She also added that her and the team of students were not asked about the removal of the record.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation also confirmed that he asked the faculty’s leadership not to publish a recording of his meeting. “I really asked not to publish this in any way,” he said. At the same time, the Kremlin representative refused to admit his request to censorship.
The media reported that after the talk show, Peskov asked the audience: "We are talking about the off-record?" The those present took the question for the joke: "There were five cameras with five operators behind them, Peskov met two presenters and hung a buttonhole on him, after which they said" the record went. "What" off-record "?" - recalls one of the students who visited the current show.
