The co-owner of the Summa group of companies, Ziyavudin Magomedov, who is suspected of embezzlement of budgetary funds, embezzlement and the creation of a criminal community, was placed under arrest by the Tverskoy Court of Moscow for two months, until May 30.

The businessman's defense asked the court to release him on bail of 2.5 billion rubles, while the prosecution opposed it. The investigator said that in the case we are talking about the theft of more than 2 billion rubles.

As it became known during the hearing, Magomedov is suspected of creating and leading a criminal community in seven criminal cases, combined into a single proceeding. According to the prosecutor, the goal of the community was to steal budgetary funds from a number of companies, including those with state participation, Interfax reports .

As Aleksey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy, notes in his telegram channel, Magomedov’s problems began when he began to support Dagestani truckers opposing the Platon system (according to the media, this is the business of Igor Rotenberg, the son of a close friend of President Putin . -NT). In addition, according to Venediktov, Magomedov was one of the supporters of the project to nominate Dmitry Medvedev for a second presidential term. “This could be preparation for transit and further weakening of Medvedev. There is nothing left around his program: neither politicians - look: Surkov, Prikhodko (Surkov is gone, Prikhodko is compromised), nor big businessmen, ” writes Venediktov.

In other words, we have witnessed a struggle for the second most important post in the state - the post of prime minister, which is becoming especially significant in the face of growing sanctions from the US and the EU, problems with access to cheap Western credit capital and low oil prices. As you know, one of the possible replacements for Medvedev as prime minister is Igor Sechin, who has special resources in law enforcement agencies. The other is the current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, who can hardly boast of resources in the authorities.

Magomedov was detained in Moscow on Saturday, March 31, by employees of the Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and employees of the economic security service of the FSB. On Friday evening, the company's office and Magomedov's home were searched, and he himself was interrogated. One of the cases was initiated in connection with embezzlement during the construction of the Arena Baltika stadium in Kaliningrad.

In 2017, Forbes estimated the fortune of Ziyavudin Magomedov at $1.4 billion. Summa's assets are mainly concentrated in the transport sector.

Magomedov's brother, Magomed Magomedov, as well as the head of the Inteks construction company controlled by Summa, Artur Maksidov, were also arrested for two months in this case.
