An activist of the movement against the Yadrovo landfill was detained in the Moscow region

On March 31, in the Moscow region, police detained Artem Lyubimov, a participant in the movement against the Yadrovo landfill. Lawyer Denis Kunaev, who represents the interests of the activist, reported this to OVD-Info.

Lyubimov was detained when he was traveling from Moscow to Volokolamsk. At a gas station, three cars drove up to him, one of which was a police car, the other two were unmarked. Law enforcement officers examined the car in which the activist was, and then took him to the Istra police department.

There, a report was drawn up against Lyubimov under Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the demands of police officers) and he was detained for 48 hours. He is currently in a temporary detention facility.

As Kunaev noted, on April 1, Lyubimov was supposed to speak in Volokolamsk at a rally against the landfill. The lawyer emphasized that the activist was announced as the main speaker of the event.

• Residents of Volokolamsk are holding protests against the Yadrovo solid waste landfill. In particular, they blocked trucks going to the landfill.
• On March 8, police officers arrived at the scene. They began to selectively snatch people from the crowd and put them on a police bus, using physical force. One of the protest participants witnessed police beating an elderly man with batons. As a result, reports of disobedience to the police were drawn up for nine people, and for two – for violating the procedure for holding a mass event (20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
• Detentions of local residents continued on March 11.
• On March 22, the court fined three eyewitnesses of the protest against the landfill, finding them guilty under Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code.
