Mail.Ru Group, which owns VKontakte, allowed the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI) to analyze borrowers' accounts on the social network, reports . RBC
With the help of the developed service, the NBKI will receive information from VKontakte users and will be able to help companies that use the services of the bureau, there are about four thousand of them. The search will be carried out using up-to-date open data.
The analysis of data from social network users will be "legal" and on a "transparent basis," the Mail.Ru Group said. However, whether the NBKI will get access to other resources of the company, in particular to the Odnoklassniki social network, RBC did not answer.
More than 97 million users visit Vkontakte monthly. Earlier, the social network filed a lawsuit against Double, which collected publicly available data using special programs and built portraits of borrowers commissioned by banks and credit bureaus.
NBKI acted as the second defendant in the lawsuit of the community. The bureau later promised not to use the VKontakte database without consent. At the moment, the NBKI has 210 million credit histories of 84 million Russians.
Earlier in March, a scandal broke out involving the social network Facebook after information about 50 million users was leaked. The data was allegedly used by British voter analysis firm Cambridge Analytica in Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
