A court in Sochi dismissed a case of non-payment of a fine against a Navalny supporter

On March 31, a justice of the peace in Sochi dismissed the case against a supporter of Alexei Navalny, Irina Barkhatova, which was opened due to non-payment of a fine for participating in an anti-corruption rally in April 2017. The case was closed due to the fact that the deadlines for bringing to justice had expired, writes the "Caucasian Knot".

Barkhatova was fined 20,000 rubles under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the order of the action). On March 30, the bailiff drew up a protocol against her under part 1 of Article 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to pay the fine on time).

“[The bailiff] demanded that I, on March 31, on a day off, appear at the judicial magistrate station No. 101. I came, Konstantin Zykov was with me as a public defender, and Konstantin Gudimov wanted to speak as a witness. I asked the judge to postpone the hearing due to the fact that my lawyer Mikhail Benyash, for good reasons, could not appear in court today. However, the judge, having retired to the deliberation room, issued a verdict on the termination of the administrative case due to the expiration of the deadlines for bringing to justice, ”the activist told the publication.

Barkhatova was detained on April 16 during a rally against corruption. In June, after the “We demand answers” ​​campaign, she was fined 20,000 rubles.
