Police in Moscow detained participants in single pickets against deputy Slutsky

Several participants of single-person pickets against harassment were detained near the State Duma building in Moscow. This was reported to OVD-Info by human rights activist Margret Satterwaite.

She said that several detainees, whose names are unknown to her, were taken to the Tver police department. After that, the police detained Alena Popova, who was already detained today and released from the department, as well as a participant in the Quiet Picket project.

According to Satterwaite, anyone who has a cardboard figure of State Duma deputy Leonid Slutsky or some kind of poster is being detained.

UPD 20:45 Together with Alena Popova, activists Anastasia Alekseeva and Anastasia Glushkova were detained.

Popova is charged with organizing a public event without filing a notification (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), Alekseeva - violation of the rules for holding a public event by a participant (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

UPD 22:41 Anastasia Glushkova is also charged with violating the rules for holding a public event by a participant (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

All three were released from the department. The trial is scheduled for April 12.

  • Earlier, three journalists - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the RTVi TV channel Ekaterina Kotrikadze, producer of the Dozhd TV channel Daria Zhuk and journalist of the BBC Russian service Farida Rustamova - accused Leonid Slutsky of sexual harassment. The BBC published a transcript of the audio recording Rustamova's conversation with Slutsky, during which the deputy offered the journalist to become his mistress. The State Duma Commission on Deputy Ethics considered the complaints of journalists, but did not find any violations in Slutsky's behavior.
  • On April 2, activist Alena Popova was detained at the State Duma with a cardboard figure of Slutsky - the police considered the figure to be a collapsible structure. The activist was released from the department without a protocol being drawn up. On April 3, she was detained again .
  • Popova is also one of the organizers of pickets against sexual harassment, notifications for which the mayor's office has rejected four times.
