Evening "Other trains. Music and architecture of memory ”is included in the program“ New Music on the New Scene ”-a series of lectures, film screenings and concerts dedicated to the most important modern composers, which the new scene organizes together with the cultural and educational project“ Eshkolot ”.
According to the Eshkolota website, the evening dedicated to the Day of the Disaster (Yom Ha-shu) will open the lecture of art critic Vadim Bass “How Architecture says what it is impossible to talk about. The commemoration of the 20th century tragedies: from wartime monuments to the contest at the blockade museum. ”
Then the concert of the Ensemble modern music ensemble will be held. Mikhail Krutik (violin), Maria Grigoryeva (violin), Dmitry Chernyshenko (Alt) and Elena Grigoryeva (cello) will perform Diffferent Trains Steve Reich - an essay for a string quartet, in which tape recordings of people who survived the Second World War and catastrophe are used as one of the “parties”. The composition was first performed by the Kronos Quartet ensemble and received the Grammy Award in 1989.
