Former lawyer and host of the judicial talk show on the Rossiya channel “The Trial is Coming” Vladimir Reznik (formerly Oreshnikov) received seven years in a maximum security colony in a fraud case, press secretary of the Nagatinsky Court of Moscow Victoria Belova told RBC.
According to her, the verdict was pronounced on March 29 under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale).
According to the prosecution’s version, which the court agreed with, Reznik demanded from the businessman, accused of illegal banking activities, about 4.5 million rubles for assigning him a suspended sentence.
Rosbalt writes that Reznik fully admitted his guilt and entered into a pre-trial agreement, but his previous conviction for fraud affected the serious sentence. As part of the pre-trial agreement, he testified that 3.5 million rubles from the victim’s money were taken by another lawyer, a member of the Bar Association in the Krasnodar Territory.
According to Rosbalt, Reznik’s services were recommended to the businessman by a certain clergyman, who asked him to donate 100 thousand rubles for the needs of the parish. Reznik introduced himself as an active lawyer, and received a million personally and 3.6 million rubles through an intermediary to “work” with investigators and judges. He did not resolve the issue of a suspended sentence.
As a result, the lawyer was detained at the Moscow airport on the way to Minsk - he flew to Russia from Israel (he has dual citizenship).
This is already the second conviction of Vladimir Reznik - in 2012, the TV presenter, then Vladimir Oreshnikov, received two years in prison for fraud. Then he promised the businessman to achieve a transfer to the status of a witness, but was unable to achieve this. Then it turned out that Oreshnikov had a fake diploma; he was deprived of the status of a lawyer at the Chamber of Lawyers of the Moscow Region, but he changed his last name, received a new document on higher education and the status of a lawyer in the Tyumen region, was deprived of this too, and again received status in Chechnya.
