Memorial employee and historian Yuri Dmitriev was sentenced

The Petrozavodsk City Court acquitted Yury Dmitriev, historian and head of the Karelian branch of the Memorial society, on charges of indecent acts and the production of child pornography. It is reported by Mediazona. Dmitriev was found guilty under the article on possession of weapons, he was sentenced to 2.5 years of restriction of freedom .

Earlier, the prosecutor's office asked to sentence Dmitriev to nine years in a strict regime colony. The historian was accused of making pornographic photographs with the participation of his own adopted daughter (Article 242.2 of the Criminal Code) and “lewd acts” (Article 135 of the Criminal Code).

“I waited, and I'm happy. I knew that all this was not true, and I am glad that this has been proven, ”the eldest daughter of the historian Ekaterina told Mediazona.

In addition to the above articles, Dmitriev was tried under the article on “illegal possession of the main parts of firearms” (part 1 of article 222 of the Criminal Code), since during the inspection of the apartment on December 13, 2016, fragments of hunting weapons were seized from him in addition to photographs.

UPD 18:55 Novaya Gazeta clarifies that Dmitriev will need to report to the police over the next three months.
