"Total Dictation - 2018" Robot will read to NSU

The voice assistant to Yandex "Alice" will read at NSU, the text that Guzel Yakhin wrote. After the promotion, the robot will make it possible to listen to the text at any time and check its literacy on your own.

Alice will be the first voice assistant to whom the role of the "dictator" will be entrusted. The development of Yandex uses advanced artificial intelligence technologies, in particular, the technology of synthesis and speech recognition of Speechkit, thanks to which Alice speaks in a voice similar to living human speech.

In total, Thirteen sites are planned at NSU this year: traditional ones, where philologists will become “dictators”, and non -standard with Alice. After the end of the total dictation in Alice, it will be possible to listen to his text at any time and test your strength yourself. The voice assistant is available on IOS and Android devices, as well as in Yandex.mozer for Windows.

The main platform of the Total Dictation this year will be the Far Eastern Federal University, where the dictation will read the author of the text Guzel Yakhin. In addition, in the Primorsky capital, the dictation will be written in the largest oceanarium in Russia, in the Nakhimov Naval School, and employees of several consulates will join the Trud project.

The first “total dictation” was held in 2004 by students at the Faculty of Humanitarian Faculty of NSU. Until 2008, the texts were dictated by the university teachers, then famous people began to be invited to the role of “dictators”. For fifteen years, the action has acquired a worldwide scale: it is organized by the Total Dictation Foundation, located in Novosibirsk, and is embodied by activists and volunteers in different parts of the planet. In 2017, the event covered 71 countries, uniting 200 thousand people in 866 cities. In 2018, the total dictation will be held using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of a civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.

NSU is an expert center of the international action: the university expert group not only recommends how to check the dictation, but also studies its results: it monitors the dynamics of changing language norms, finds controversial places and attracts the attention of the spelling commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The action will take place on April 14 in a thousand cities in 75 countries. On a number of sites, registration on the site totaldict.ru is required.
