Irina Tokmakova died

On April 5, in Moscow, at the age of 89, a children's writer died, the author of classic translations of foreign folk poetry Irina Tokmakova.

Irina Petrovna Tokmakova was born in 1929 in Moscow, in 1953 she graduated from the philological faculty of Moscow State University and entered graduate school according to a general and comparative linguistics, and at the same time began to work as a translator.

The first artistic translation of Irina Tokmakova was the collection of Swedish folk children's songs. In 1962, she released the first book of her own verses-“Trees”, created with her husband, artist-illustrator Lev Tokmakov.

Also, among the books of Irina Tokmakova, poetic collections “Seasons”, “Summer rain”, “The Tale of the Sazanchik”, “Walks the Sun in a Circle”, the play “An enchanted hoof”, fabulous novels “Happily, Ivushkin!”, “Alya, Klyaksich and letter A”, translations from Scottish songs (including children's songs “At Peggy” There lived a cheerful goose ”,“ Willy Vinka’s baby ”, etc.), translations of the works of Tove Jansson, Astrid Lindgren, Kenneth Graham and other writers.
