Artdokfest can move from Russia

The court in Moscow fined the International Documentary Film Film "Artdokfest" for 100 thousand rubles for demonstrating the film without a rental certificate. The organizers of "Artdokfest" called this court decision by a blow to the very existence of the festival in Russia.

According to Artdokfest in an open letter published on the festival’s website , a fine was imposed by the Judicial section No. 380 of the Presnensky district of the city of Moscow for two shows in the 2017 competition program of the film “Fleet of Bullets” of the production of Latvia - 50 thousand rubles for each show.

At the same time, the letter was noted, only one full -fledged show of the film was held at the festival, and the second was actually ripped off. In addition, the Directorate of Artdokfest did not receive a summons to the court, and he went without the participation of representatives of the festival.

The letter emphasizes that according to Russian laws, “Foreign Film for Participation and Demonstration within the framework of the International Film Festival, held in the Russian Federation, is not required for a rental certificate of a state model.”

For the festival, since 2014 not receiving state financial support, 100 thousand rubles are “this is a catastrophically large figure ... This is a blow to the very fact of the existence of the festival in Russia,” the letter says. It ends with an announcement of the start of reception of work at the 2018 festival, "which will certainly take place."

“Another question is, will it be the territory of the Russian Federation? The question remains open, ”writes the organizers of Artdokfest.
