In Kazan, police detained activists Gulnaz Smirnova and Guzel Khalilova who opposed the construction of an incineration plant. This is reported by "Idel. Realii”, referring to other activists.
The girls are accused of violating the rules for holding a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of a rally against the construction of a waste incineration plant in Osinovo, which is due tomorrow.
Khalilova is taken to court, Smirnov does not get in touch with activists and journalists. It is noted that she is pregnant.
- Disputes about the construction of a waste incineration plant in Kazan have been going on for the past two years. A movement against the construction of the plant has formed in the city, uniting with movements from the Moscow region, where the Rostec company also proposes to build similar enterprises.
- Earlier it became known that a waste incineration plant in Tatarstan will be built in the Zelenodolsk region, in the village of Osinovo. The land on which the plant is going to be built already belongs to the construction investor, a subsidiary of the Rostec Corporation, RT-Invest. It is planned to utilize up to 50% of all municipal solid waste in Kazan at the waste incineration plant. Construction is expected to start in October 2018, and the plant will be put into operation in 2022.
