
Five years ago, on April 8, 2013, journalist Mikhail Beketov, editor of the newspaper Khimkinskaya Pravda, died. He covered the struggle to preserve the Khimkinsky forest and against the construction of the Moscow -St. Petersburg paid road passing through the Khimkinsky forest.
On November 13, 2008, Mikhail Beketov was beaten unknown and became disabled, almost completely losing speech. The organization of beating was suspected of the mayor of Khimki Vladimir Strelchenko. Beketov was on an examination in the hospital and choked when eating, which entailed a heart attack, causing death. Death was recognized as an accident, and the case of Beketov’s beating was never disclosed.
