49 people died as a result of the chemical attack of the troops of the dictator Bashar al-Assad for the city of the Duma in the oasis of East Guta near Damascus controlled by the rebels from the Jaysh al-Islam. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the information of the American-Syrian Medical Society and local rescuers.
The US State Department said that if the information is confirmed, Washington will require an immediate international reaction.
Assad’s mode rejects the accusation. In Damascus, they say that, faced with the prospect of defeat, Jaysh al-Islam spreads false information.
The Duma is the last city in the Eastern Guta, which the rebels still hold. All other areas of the oasis were captured by Assad during the massive offensive begun in February. It is supported by Russian aviation.
