1948 Deir Yassin massacre

70 years ago, on April 9, 1948, the Arab village of Deir Yassin in Palestine was captured by detachments of the radical Zionist organizations Irgun and Lehi. According to various estimates, from 107 to 254 villagers were killed. More than half of the victims were women and children. The attackers lost 5 people killed and 50 wounded. The events in Deir Yassin provoked an exodus of Arabs from areas with a predominantly Jewish population.
