1918 Annexation of Bessarabia to Romania

One hundred years ago, on April 9, 1918, the parliament of the Moldavian Democratic Republic (Sfatul Tarii) voted for unification with Romania (86 deputies in favor, 3 against, 36 abstained, 13 were absent from the meeting). Mostly representatives of the German, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Gagauz minorities abstained.

A declaration was adopted that "the Moldavian Democratic Republic (Bessarabia) in its historical borders between the Prut, the Dniester, the Danube, the Black Sea and the old Austrian border unites with Romania."
