Goran Vesić, a representative of the mayor's office, said that the Ministry of Culture, the Office for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and the city administration did not approve the appearance of the monument. The bust of Gagarin will be remade. “Gagarin in Belgrade will have a memory worthy of his contribution to the development of mankind,” Vesic said.

On April 8, a monument to Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was erected in Belgrade . And he looks very strange.

A small bust of the cosmonaut is located on a massive high pedestal, and because of this, a person of average height can only see Gagarin's forehead and helmet.

Now the inhabitants of Belgrade are joking that the only way to really see the monument is from space. Some suggest that the bust was specially placed on a high pedestal - so that no one would steal it. “It looks like it was packed, and only the head remained,” a resident of the Serbian capital told the local edition of Telegraf.

The monument was erected by order of the Karich Brothers Foundation near the Pyramida shopping center on Gagarina Street, which is located on the outskirts of Belgrade. The grand opening of the monument will take place on April 12.
