The FBI raided the home of Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. Documents related to porn actress Stormy Daniels were confiscated from him

The FBI raided the New York office of Michael Cohen, the personal lawyer of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by The New York Times with reference to Cohen's lawyer Stephen Ryan.

According to Ryan, the search is partly related to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible ties between Trump's circle and Russia and alleged Russian interference in the US presidential election.

FBI employees, in particular, seized Cohen's correspondence with Donald Trump, as well as documents related to the payment of $130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford), The New York Times and CNN report, citing sources.

An anonymous White House source told CNN that Trump knew in advance that Cohen's office would be searched and watched reports about it on TV.

• Michael Cohen has been one of Trump's closest advisers since 2007, according to The Washington Post.
• In 2017, Cohen spoke before the US Congress regarding plans to build Trump Tower in Moscow. Hoping to get approval for construction in 2015, the lawyer wrote, in particular, to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. The project was never implemented.
• Porn actress Stormy Daniels entered into an agreement with Cohen in 2016 prohibiting her from talking about her relationship with Trump in 2006-2007, and received $130 thousand for this. Cohen said he paid her out of personal funds.
