The FSB reported on the prevention of terrorist attacks in Ingushetia and Bashkiria on the day of the presidential elections

The head of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, said that the special services prevented terrorist attacks at polling stations in Ingushetia and Bashkiria on the day of the presidential elections. This was reported on the website of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC).

According to Bortnikov, in February, in the Nazran region of Ingushetia, security forces, during armed resistance, killed two supporters of the Islamic State terrorist group. According to intelligence services, they were preparing a terrorist attack at one of the polling stations during the presidential elections.

In addition, in March in the Republic of Bashkortostan, “two members of a right-wing radical group” were detained who were preparing terrorist attacks at polling stations in Ufa. According to Bortnikov, two high-power improvised explosive devices were seized from the detainees.

The head of the FSB added that in the same month, two more supporters of the Islamic State were killed in the Saratov region, who were planning a terrorist attack in one of the Saratov shopping centers. According to Bortnikov, they found weapons and a homemade explosive device with a capacity of about three kilograms of TNT.

In March, the intelligence service reported on the detention of members of a “sleeping cell” of the Islamic State terrorist group in the Kaluga region.
