Aman Tuleyev headed the Kuzbass parliament
Former governor of the Kemerovo region Aman Tuleev, who resigned after a fire in the Zimnyaya Cherry shopping center, was elected chairman of the Council of People's Deputies of the region.
On April 1, Tuleev himself wrote and sent a letter of resignation to the president. In his video message, he linked his decision to the fire that claimed the lives of 64 people.
“It is impossible to work as governor with such a heavy load. It’s morally impossible,” Tuleev said.
Aman Tuleev, 73, has been in charge of the Kemerovo region since 1997. Information about his imminent resignation appeared repeatedly. Recently, this was due to the state of health of the head of the region. After the fire at the Zimnyaya Cherry shopping center, residents who went to the rally demanded the dismissal of the governor.
After leaving the governor's post, already on April 3, Tuleev received a vacant deputy mandate of the Council of People's Deputies of the Kemerovo Region. Its chairman, Aleksey Sinitsyn, resigned on April 9, stating that "the current composition of the regional council is Tuleev's team."
