The euro exchange rate on the Moscow currency exchange amid the fall of Russian stock markets due to US sanctions exceeded 80 rubles. According to RBC, this happened for the first time since March 2016.

In the first minutes after the opening of the auction, the European currency rose to 80.1475 rubles. By 11:24 Moscow time, its course dropped to 78.91 rubles. At the time of the closing of trading on Tuesday evening, 77.85 rubles were given for one euro.

The dollar exchange rate on Tuesday morning also increased more than a ruble - up to 64.76 rubles. On Tuesday evening, the cost of the American currency was 63.025 rubles. At 11:26 Moscow time, one dollar costs 63.81 rubles.

The ruble has been cheaper in relation to the dollar and the euro since the beginning of the week. The day before, for the first time since 2016 , the euro exceeded 78 rubles , the dollar - 63 rubles.
