The defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case in Bashkortostan received sentences from 11 to 16 years

The Collegium for Military Affairs of the Supreme Court approved the sentence of five residents of Salavat and Sterlitamak, accused of involvement in Hizb. This is what the Grani.ru project is about.

ut-Tahrir reports on December 11, 2017, the Volga District Military Court sentenced five defendants in the case. Albert Shafiev and Aidar Aidarbekov were sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security colony. They were accused of organizing a cell recognized as terrorist (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Shafiev and Aidarbekov were also sentenced to restriction of freedom after serving their sentences for one year.

The remaining three defendants were considered members of the community (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). Maxim Puigin and Radik Imangulov were sentenced to 11 years in a maximum security colony, and Nail Miniakhmetov was sentenced to 12 years.

The defendants in the case were detained by officers of the FSB and the Center for Countering Extremism in 2016. According to investigators, the Hizb cell in Salavat was created by a local resident, Aidarbekov, and a resident of Sterlitamak, Shafiev, in 2015. Each participant allegedly performed certain functions: attracted new supporters, distributed propaganda materials, collected money to support activities
