Investigator and NTV journalists are putting pressure on the mother of a defendant in the Network case

In Penza, the mother of Ilya Shakursky, a defendant in the “Network” case, Elena, is under pressure from an investigator and NTV journalists. This is stated in a statement by the Parents Network - the Committee of Relatives of Those Accused in the Terrorist Community Case.

The investigator called Shakursky’s mother and invited her to give an interview to the NTV television company, promising that her son would “get credit for this in court.” At the same time, he told the woman that she needed to state that Shakursky was indeed a member of the “Network” organization and under no circumstances mention that the young people were gathering just to play airsoft.

The film crew, together with an FSB operative, came to the woman’s home and conducted interviews until 11 p.m. Elena told the head of the movement “For Human Rights” Lev Ponomarev about how everything happened.

According to the woman, journalists were interested not only in Shakursky’s participation in the organization, but also about its interaction with human rights activists. They insistently offered to tell her on camera what human rights activists had promised her and persuaded her to do.

Before leaving, the NTV film crew warned that they would call the woman to clarify some details. As specified in the Parents' Network report, Shakursky's mother intends to demand that her interview not be aired.

Elena also said that the investigator who is leading the Shakursky case is constantly trying to convince her of her son’s guilt:

He sits and says: your son is to blame, your son is to blame.... He says that all the evidence is against him... I am so confused on all sides. I understand that I can’t be friends with them because they tortured my son, but on the other hand, I’m afraid…. And again I’m following their lead... I’m afraid that he will go to jail for no reason.

Elena turned to the Parents Network with a request to make the incident public. She also asked to convey her words:

If this happens to me or Ilya, then the people in whose hands my son is and who put pressure on both him and me will be to blame.
