In the Rostov region, Alexander Averin, co-chairman of the Other Russia party, was detained when he crossed the border from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This is written in the telegram channel of the party.

“Averin was planted with a Makarov pistol when crossing the border from the LPR to the Russian Federation at the Avilo-Uspenskoye border checkpoint. At the moment, he has been in the base station of the village of Matveevo-Kurgan for more than three days, st. Komsomolskaya, 93. Earlier, police officers denied his detention,” the channel said in a statement.

The activist’s associates believe that his detention is “a provocation on the part of the law enforcement agencies of the FSB and the E Center.”

UPD 20:38 As party activists specified, the first information about Averin's detention appeared on April 7. “He was detained by border guards with the wording “disobedience to border guards”. As it turned out, a Makarov pistol and a magazine with 7 rounds were planted on Alexander. Now he is in the status of an accused under articles 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons) and 226 of the Criminal Code (smuggling of weapons),” representatives of the Other Russia told OVD-Info.

A restraining order trial will take place on April 13.
