Winners of World Press Photo 2018

On April 12, Amsterdam hosted the awarding ceremony of the laureates of the 61st International Photo Journalism Competition World Press Photo. In the main nomination, “Photo of the Year”, the work of the AFP agency Ronaldo Shemidt (Venezuela) won the work of the AFP agency.

• “People” - Magnus Vennman (Sweden) and Adam Ferguson (USA);
• “Sport” - Oliver Scarff (Great Britain) and Alain Schroeder (Belgium);
• “News from the scene” - Ronaldo Shemidt (Venezuela) and David Becker (USA).

This season, the World Press Photo received more than 73 thousand works from 4.5 thousand photographers from 125 countries.

Among the prize -winners of the competition announced earlier , there are representatives of Russia: the project “Underground” , created by the photo correspondent of the MIA “Russia Today” Valery Melnikov in co -authorship with the director of installation by Andrei Lyubimov and composer Ilya Fresh (second place in the category “Digital StoryTelling/Short Form” ), documentary interactive animational animation.
