Police counteract activists heading to rallies in the Moscow region

Police officers are trying to counteract activists heading to anti-garbage rallies in the suburbs.

Members of the Revolutionary Workers' Party told OVD-Info that activist Sergei Stoychenko was detained in Serpukhov in the morning before a rally against landfills and incinerators. There is no connection with him now, but he managed to report the arrest.

Activist Denis Kunaev, who was on his way to the rally in Volokolamsk, tweeted that his car was stopped by traffic police. They checked for a long time whether Kunaev had fines or not. Then they searched the car with witnesses, drew up a protocol of inspection and released him.

According to the leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, on the way to one of the rallies, the police stopped a car with activists of the organization under the pretext that prohibited items might be hidden in the car.

Earlier it was reported that activists of the Left Bloc were also detained in Serpukhov before the rally.

Today, rallies are held in nine cities of the Moscow region against the construction of waste incinerators and for the closure of solid waste landfills in different parts of the region. The protesters believe that the policy of the authorities of the Moscow region has led to the fact that the air around the landfills is contaminated with toxic fumes that are harmful to people.
