About 10 people were detained at the protest against the Yadrovo landfill

Law enforcement officers detained about 10 people in Volokolamsk protesting against the Yadrovo landfill, Interfax reports , citing a representative of the initiative group.

The activist clarified that he does not know where the detainees were taken.

Later, in a conversation with OVD-Info, one of the detaineesclarified that eight people were taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs department in the Volokolamsk district. They had an explanatory conversation with them, after which they wrote explanatory notes about how, where and under what circumstances they were detained. After that everyone was released.

On the afternoon of April 15, several hundred protesters against the Yadrovo landfill blocked the passage to the landfill. Police arrived at the scene and tried to push local residents off the road.

The day before, two rallies against the landfill were held in Volokolamsk - at the monument to heroic sappers and at the Yadrovo landfill. According to Interfax estimates, about 500 people took part in each action. On the same day, rallies against landfills were held in eight more cities near Moscow: Balashikha, Dmitrov, Klin, Kolomna, Krasnoarmeysk, Sergiev Posad, Serpukhov and Shatura.

Residents of Volokolamsk have been seeking the closure of the Yadrovo landfill for several months. In just eight days of March, more than 500 local residents sought medical help due to emissions at the landfill, 418 of them were children.
