A competition for young musicologists has been announced to the 85th anniversary of the magazine "Music Academy"

The Union of Composers of Russia, the Publishing House "Composer" and the magazine "Music Academy" announce an open contest of musicological work of young authors about the work of modern Russian composers. The competition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the magazine "Music Academy" ("Soviet Music").

According to the General Director of the Union of Composers of Russia Karina Abramyan, the international jury will evaluate the work of young researchers under the chairmanship of the rector of the Moscow Conservatory Alexander Sokolov. The jury will include musicologists Vsevolod Zaderatsky (Moscow), Alexander Maklygin (Kazan), Irina Yaskevich (Novosibirsk), Anatoly Tsucker (Rostov-on-Don), Ildar Khannanov (Conservatory Pibodi, Baltimore, USA) and Marina Frolova-Uoker (Cambridge University, UK).

The competition is accepted by authors no over 35 years old, not published earlier (including on the Internet) and not submitted for consideration in Russian and foreign magazines.

The theme of competitive work is the work of domestic composers of the last decade of the 20th century and the present. The topic of work can be the work of the modern composer as a whole or his individual works, the stylistic directions of modern academic music, relevant or poorly studied phenomena of modern musical culture.

The competition takes place in two rounds. All participants who have held on the second round will be awarded with diplomas, and their work was published in the special issue of the Music Academy magazine in 2018.

The following prizes are awarded: Grand Prix, Laureate I, II, III prizes, diplomas (IV and V prizes). The jury has the right not to award the Grand Prix and the first prize; special prizes are also provided for the winners of the competition. In addition to the prizes, a free subscription to the Music Academy magazine will be issued.

The awards will be awarded in November at a concert dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Music Academy magazine.

Acceptance of applications will be held from June 1 to July 31 , the results will be announced on the website of the Macompation.ru contest no later than October 15 .
