Durov: I will pay millions to administrators of VPN services and proxy servers

The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, promised to pay millions of dollars of grants to administrators of VPN services and proxy servers from personal funds that allow to bypass locks on the Internet. Durov made his statement on a personal VK page.

According to the Internet businessman, the payment of grants in bitcoins has already begun. "I urge everyone to join and participate - setting up the proxy/VPN servers or their financing," he wrote.

Durov also noted: "Although the Russian market does not make up a significant share of the Telegram user base, it is important to us for personal reasons."

On Monday, Russian providers at the request of Roskomnadzor began blocking Telegram . The basis was the court decision made on April 13 at the request of the censorship department. Officials accused the service administration of refusing to provide the FSB with encryption keys. Meanwhile, in Telegram, officials have repeatedly explained that the program algorithm does not give administrators access to this information.

After the decision on the statement of the RKN, Durov promised that the messenger would begin to use built -in methods of bypassing locks in order to rid users from the need to overcome the lock on their own. At the same time, he did not guarantee one hundred percent availability of Telegram without VPN services and proxy servers.

As part of the blocking of the RKN messenger, I began to limit access to Amazon and Google cloud services . As of 16:37 Moscow time, almost 18.2 million IP addresses were blocked on April 17. Due to the actions of the censorship department, not only Telegram collided with problems, but also other Internet services using the clouds of Amazon and Google.
