1943. The death of Admiral Yamamoto

75 years ago, on April 18, 1943, the Japanese bomber of Mitsubishi G4M, on which the commander in chief of the Japanese fleet, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, was shot down in the Gaadalkanal (Solomon Island) American P-38 fighters. Yamamoto was shot dead in the air with a queue launched by American lieutenant Rex Barber.

Four days before this battle, the cryptographic service of the American fleet intercepted and deciphered the Japanese radio broadcast containing information about the upcoming flight of Yamamoto to Guadalkanal. Therefore, 18 fighters with the maximum supply of fuel were allocated in advance to intercept his aircraft.
