In the center of Yaroslavl, an unauthorized rally was held against the import of garbage from Moscow, which was attended by more than one thousand people. This was reported by Kommersant.
According to the newspaper, the rally lasted two hours, the police did not interfere in what was happening. No one was detained during the street action, the newspaper specified.
Participants in the unauthorized action said they would create a "Yaroslavl Defense Committee" to counteract the storage of waste in the capital. The first meeting of the committee will be held on April 19, Kommersant said in a statement.
Earlier, the Moscow mayor's office turned to the governor of the Yaroslavl region, Dmitry Mironov, with a request to help dispose of garbage. According to Mironov's calculations, the region is ready to accept 200 thousand tons of waste for 0.5 billion rubles.
The day before, residents of the city of Odintsovo near Moscow complained about the opening of a spontaneous dump on the territory of the industrial zone, where garbage was taken that did not fall into Yadrovo. However, after complaints, the authorities promised to eliminate all piles of garbage within a week.
