MMKF begins

Today, April 19, in the cinema "Russia" the opening ceremony of the 40th Moscow International Film Festival (MMKF) will be held.

For the first time in the history of the festival, the deadlines had to be postponed from summer to spring due to the World Cup, which will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities of Russia, including Moscow.

At the opening ceremony, the main awards of this year will be presented and awarded the honorary prize for his contribution to world cinema, TASS reports. After the ceremony, the film of the Italian director Ferzan Ozpetek “Napol under the veil” ( Napoli Velata ), which is included in the main competitive program of the MMKF, will be shown.

In total, 16 works of filmmakers from around the world participate in it. In the main competition, Russia will be presented by the films “NU” by graduates of VGIK YAN GE (China), “Spitak” by Alexander Kott and “Tsar-PTITIC” Eduard Novikov.

In the jury of the MMKF, led by producer Paolo del Brocco (Italy), the actors John Savage (USA) and Nastasya Kinsky (Germany) and directors Anna Melikyan (Russia) and Qiao Liang (China) were included.

The closing film of the film festival will be the criminal drama " Identités ) directed by Samuel Tujier (Canada). One of the main roles in it was played by the actor Naseri himself, who was headed by the jury of the international contest of a short meter MMKF.

Also in the schedule of the festival contest of documentary cinema, the special program “ Persona : Ingmar Bergman” is a large retrospective dedicated to the centenary of the Swedish director, which included more than 20 of his works, the program “Two weeks of 50 years”, compiled from the films of the Cannes section “Two -week -old directors”, the program “Spectrum”, “Authoria of Resistance”, “Eight per eight per. Half films ”,“ Films that have not been here ”,“ The Time of Women ”,“ Century of the Cinema of the Baltic States ”and a special project dedicated to Bruce Lee.

The 40th MMKF will last until April 26. Its main platform will be the Cinema Center “October”, part of the shows will be held in the cinemas of the city network Moskino, “Russian Programs” will be held at the Cinema House, the Union of Cinematographers with the participation of the Youth Center will present a new project “Festival of Regional Youth Cinema of Russia”.
