Sentence surrender of Germany

Berlin will turn to Washington with a request not to extend to German companies new American sanctions for cooperation with Russian enterprises. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to German government officials.

It is claimed that this week the German Minister of Finance Olaf Sholts will raise the issue of this week this week, and at the end of April, the Chancellor of Angela Merkel intends to discuss the topic at a meeting with American President Donald Trump.

It is noted that Berlin achieves an exception to the rules not for any specific firms, but for the entire German business as a whole.

According to WSJ, the Merkel government is pressure large companies in the country that conduct business with Moscow. Among them are Siemens, Daimler and Volkswagen. Possible losses of German firms in the event of a termination of cooperation with Russia are estimated at hundreds of millions of euros.

As stated in the publication, the US Treasury may meet Berlin, allowing for some time to continue the execution of existing contracts with Russian firms that fell under new sanctions.
