Roskomnadzor began blocking IP addresses of Microsoft cloud hosting

Roskomnadzor has included several tens of thousands of IP addresses of the Azure cloud platform owned by Microsoft in the register of banned sites.

As can be seen from the unofficial copy of the registry download sent to providers, Roskomnadzor ordered to block the 51.136.0.0/15 subnet, which includes 131,000 IP addresses. The official list of IP addresses of Azure data centers contains the subnet 51.136.0.0/17 (32 thousand addresses included in the range blocked by Roskomnadzor). The remaining addresses in the subnet included in the registry also apply to Microsoft.

Updated: Roskomnadzor also included the 178.63.0.0/16 subnet, which belongs to the popular hosting provider Hetzner, into the list of banned sites.

• Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform that users and businesses can use to store data, host online projects, and work with machine learning algorithms, for example. The range of addresses that got into the registry of prohibited sites is one of several thousand related to Azure.
• Since April 16, Roskomnadzor has entered more than 18 million IP addresses of major hosting providers - Google, Amazon and Digital Ocean - into the register of banned sites. This is done in an attempt to block the Telegram messenger by decision of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow.
• Telegram itself continues to work for most Russian users, however, due to mass blocking, there are interruptions in access to other popular sites and services.
