The Moscow City Court upheld the arrests of those involved in the “New Greatness” case

The Moscow City Court upheld the arrests of Pyotr Karamzin, Maria Dubovik and Anna Pavlikova, accused of organizing the extremist community "New Greatness" (part 1 of article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by an employee of OVD-Info from the courtroom.

Novaya Gazeta writes that the lawyers asked for house arrest for the activists. Maxim Pashkov, Maria Dubovik's defender, has already announced that he is going to appeal the court's decision to the cassation instance.

“I made the biggest mistake in my life - I got into a group that violated the law,” the newspaper quotes Karamzin as saying.

• In mid-March, members of the previously unknown New Greatness movement were detained and then arrested in Moscow. They are accused of creating an extremist community. OVD-Info got acquainted with the materials of the case - apparently, the movement was led by infiltrated law enforcement officers.
• During the arrest, 17-year-old Pavlikova was threatened with violence during the arrest: “She said that she was detained by people in uniform without insignia and in black balaclavas, one of whom threatened to hit her, since she denied what he accused her of. But, fortunately, the brave fighter against extremists did not dare to hit the 17-year-old girl, ”said the girl’s lawyer.
