The coordinator of Alexei Navalny’s headquarters in Kaliningrad, Yegor Chernyuk, against whom a case was opened for evading the army (Article 328 of the Criminal Code), left Russia, wrote on Facebook. journalist Andrei Loshak

“Today Egor was supposed to appear at the Investigative Committee on a summons. It is completely logical that instead Yegor packed his few belongings into a backpack and left the country that same evening,” Loshak said.

Chernyuk himself, in a conversation with Mediazona, confirmed that he had left Russia. For now he is in Europe to sort out his visa. Next, the activist plans to study in the USA, and then return back to Russia.

The day before, Chernyuk reported that he was taken to the military registration and enlistment office for a medical examination. After this, the head of Navalny’s headquarters in Kaliningrad was ordered to come to the Investigative Committee on April 20 in the case of evasion from military service.

In November 2017, the Kaliningrad coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters and his deputy Oleg Alekseev were fined under Article 21.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure by citizens to fulfill military registration obligations). Chernyuk was fined 670 rubles, Alekseev - 500 rubles.

In September 2017, Chernyuk told Radio Liberty that employees of Center “E” called him and asked about the activities of the headquarters. They forced the activist to provide them with correspondence from headquarters employees and to hand over most of the newspapers. When Chernyuk refused, she told him: “Egor, you are a guy of military age. You can be put into the army. Think well before Monday.”
