A suspect was detained in Moscow for stealing a camera for training astronauts from a restoration center.

A 29-year-old resident of the Murmansk region was detained in Moscow, suspected of stealing a soundproof camera from the restoration center of the Museum of Cosmonautics in Strogino, TASS reports citing the press service of the Moscow Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Khoroshevsky court told RBC that they had received a petition for the arrest of Vladimir Anikin, who is suspected of grand theft (clause “c” of Part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code).

As the museum’s press service told RBC, on April 13, one of the employees contacted the police because of the theft of the exhibit “Deafness Chamber 48.” This is a sealed chamber with soundproof walls, which was intended for training astronauts before flights.

TASS, citing the museum's press service , reported that the camera, which was temporarily registered at the Museum of Cosmonautics, was in one of the restoration shops at the enterprise in Strogino at the time of the theft. The agency noted that the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin could train in this isolation chamber. However, in a conversation with the Moscow agency, museum staff were unable to confirm this information.
