Supporters of the politician Alexei Navalny in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk filed applications to hold "He is not our tsar" protests on May 5. This was reported on the pages of Navalny's team on VKontakte.
In Moscow, the opposition plans to organize a procession on Tverskaya Street and a rally on Manezhnaya Square. In St. Petersburg, Navalny's supporters will hold a procession along Zagorodny Prospekt and a rally on Pioneer Square. In Chelyabinsk, the action starts at the monument to Kurchatov, people will walk along Lenin Avenue, and then hold a rally on the Aloe Field.
Navalny's nationwide action will take place before the inauguration of President Vladimir Putin, which will take place on May 7. In March, Vladimir Putin won the Russian presidential election for the fourth time with 76% of the vote. As Navalny announced, these will be actions "against corruption, against the establishment of a monarchy, against inequality, censorship and lawlessness."
