Participants in a rally against Aman Tuleyev were detained in Kemerovo

In Kemerovo, police detained participants in a rally for the resignation of the speaker of the regional council Aman Tuleev. The place of the action was cordoned off by law enforcement officers, writes Znak.com.

The wife of the organizer of the rally, Vladimir Gorenkov, Svetlana, told the publication that on the morning of April 21, security forces began raids on the roads towards Kemerovo.

According to the woman, the police detained all the cars in which the protester was traveling: “No one made it to Kemerovo, the rally was disrupted. Three cars were detained, the fourth car was turned around.” She noted that when asked about the reason for the detention, the police were confused in their answers: at first they said that there was a raid on weapons, then on extremism.

Svetlana assumes that the police had accurate information about the participants in the event.

The telegram channel “Open City” writes that the police detained representatives of the indigenous small people, the Shors, without explaining the reasons. The channel's message says that one of the detainees had with him answers from the prosecutor's office, which law enforcement officers considered extremist materials.

Maxim Uchvatov, a local civil activist, wrote on Facebook that a colonel from the Center for Combating Extremism came to his house in the morning. He invited the activist to go with him to the department and give an explanation "about a certain signal on extremist literature." Uchvatov asked for a summons, and 10 minutes later the colonel handed him an invitation to the interrogation.

According to Znak.com, at the moment, law enforcement officers cordoned off the central square of the Soviets, where local residents were going to hold a rally.

Svetlana also added that the day before the rally, her husband was detained: he was taken to the police department, where “they made him sign some kind of paper on the rally, saying that he was warned about responsibility for violating the law.” According to her, on April 20, security forces were checking cars at the exit from Novokuznetsk towards Kemerovo: they explained their actions by the fact that they were looking for a terrorist, but did not provide any photo or description of the criminal - allegedly "official secret".

According to Uchvatov, on the eve of the event, the activists "were warmly welcomed by as many as 3 crews, led by a major." He clarifies that the law enforcement officers, referring to the statement of a certain citizen, said that the activists were noticed drinking alcoholic beverages in public places. Those who came to the rally were released after the police warned them on camera not to violate the law on rallies.
