In Kolomna, near Moscow, police fined two participants in a protest against the Volovichi landfill. about this with reference to activist Irina Naletova. writes Novaya Gazeta

The protocols against the activists were drawn up under Part 1 of Article 12.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (crossing the road in the wrong place). The detainees were not taken to the department and were fined on the spot.

Earlier it became known that police detained two protesters who were walking along a pedestrian crossing, “standing in a chain” and not allowing trucks with garbage into the landfill. As a result, several trucks drove towards the landfill.

On April 19, police detained eight more participants in the protest against the landfill. Naletova noted that among these eight people, four live in other areas of the Moscow region, three in Lyubertsy, one in Likino-Dulevo. According to the activist, they are now testifying against a member of the initiative group, Vyacheslav Egorov, who was detained on the same day.

Previously, local residents agreed that they would allow trucks with garbage from Kolomna to enter the landfill only when the refilling of the “body” of the landfill was completed. Activists refuse to accept garbage from Moscow. On April 20, local residents met with the head of Kolomna, Denis Lebedev, and gave one-time permission to let 12 cars with garbage through.

Local activists oppose the Volovichi landfill and the construction of a waste incineration plant in the village of Svistyagino near Kolomna. The group “NO to the Kolomna landfill” consists of more than 20 thousand people. According to local residents, last year the design capacity of the landfill exceeded 20 times.
