The Prime Minister of Armenia Serge Sargsyan on April 23 curled his resignation. He recognized the correctness of the opposition, which from April 13 held mass protests in Yerevan and other cities.

“Nikol Pashinyan was right. I don't. The created situation has several solutions, but I will not go to any of them. This is not mine. I am leaving the post of Prime Minister of the country, ” Sargsyan’s statement is quoted on the website of the Armenian government.

Protest shares in Armenia began after the candidacy of Sargsyan, who previously held the post of president of the country, was nominated as a prime minister. Thanks to the management reform, it is in the hands of the prime minister that the main power in the country is concentrated. Despite the protest, the Armenian parliament approved Sargsyan at a new post.

Since then, protests have not stopped. The movement was led by opposition deputy Nikol Pashinyan. On April 21, the Prime Minister called him to sit down at the negotiating table. A short conversation took place on the morning of April 22, but she did not lead to the result.

Pashinyan stated that he came to the meeting to "discuss the conditions of the resignation and peaceful transfer of power without shocks." To which Sargsyan replied that “then these are not negotiations, but blackmailing the state, legitimate power,” and left the place of negotiations.

Protests in Yerevan continued. On April 22, the police used light -school grenades to disperse the demonstrators and detained Pashinyan and two other opposition deputies. On the fact of organizing illegal shares, a criminal case was instituted, 41 people were detained as part of its investigation.

On April 23, it became known that the military was joined by the military of one of the units. A few hours later, Nikola Pashinyan was released from the pre-trial detention center, and after the Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan announced a resignation.
