1993 Referendum in Russia

25 years ago, on April 25, 1993, a referendum was held in Russia to resolve the conflict between the legislative and executive branches.

To the question "Do you trust the President of the Russian Federation BN Yeltsin?" 58.7% of voters answered positively. The socio-economic policy of the president and government after 1991 was approved by 53%. 30.2% of the referendum participants were in favor of early presidential elections, 49.5% were against; 67.2% are in favor of early parliamentary elections, 19.3% are against.

Since the turnout in the referendum was 64.1%, and an absolute majority of the electoral roll was required to decide on early elections, the results of the referendum on the latter issue were not binding.
