In the first week of the battle of Roskomnadzor (RKN) with the Internet mixer Telegram, what was happening made a comic impression rather and did not create a feeling of any serious danger. And now what is happening has not yet reached and, I hope, will not reach the scale when the losses from the blocking of the RCN in Russia of IP poles used by the owners of Telegram will be noticeable on the scale of the estate of Rosstat. It's still funny. Although what is happening - not a penny of instant damage already caused by the economy by this pursuit, it is unlikely that it will be a mistake to believe that the damage for the previous week has amounted to many hundreds of millions of rubles, and we are talking about direct losses - imperfect transactions, to be broken by services, and the expenses of companies to overcome the consequences of locks. Of course, the team of the head of the RKN, Alexander Zharov, always has the opportunity to report that all these are side effects of the fight against terrorism, conducted by the court (as well as under the command of the FSB and under the supreme command of President Putin), slightly distorting - almost investment in your own, comrades of users, personal safety. Of course not. No one in their right mind will consider these losses investments, it is in its purest form money, due to the fault of the FSB and RKN spent without anyone's benefit. However, it does not make sense to exaggerate yet - several billion rubles burned in favor of the reputation of the special services can be considered a ticket for a ticket to a huge panoramic cinema, in which they continue to show high -quality black comedy. We look - pay. We do not want to look - we still pay.
However, it is better to laugh less. What is happening in short -term mode is important only at the symbolic level. It seems that Telegram (it makes sense to write the name Latin - if only because of 200 million of its users in the Russian Federation only 15 million, this is very large even by world standards international service) will be able to confront attempts to block it in Russia, although it will lose part of the Russian audience. Running with locks AWS, Azure and other cloud capacities, apparently, will also end soon. It will be a few more weeks to fever the Russian segment of the Internet - most of the problems with the last and this week, apparently, are not so much associated with blocks, but with the need for companies in an emergency mode to rebuild their infrastructure for the conditions adapted to the fighting: it is not surprising that even what the fighting fools of Comrade Zharov did not even touch. Everything will end in one way or another (it’s even approximately clear when - to the inauguration of Vladimir Putin, which will take place regardless of whether it will bring the FSB and RKN a skin of a popular messenger) and will end more or less calmly. The problem is not at all in this, and nothing can be done with this yet: for all external players, the Internet market Russia has ceased to be a promising territory. It would be nice to make mistakes, but it is very similar to a silent catastrophe, the consequences of which we will feel for more than one year.
