The MIFF Grand Prix went to the film “The Tsar Bird” by Yakut director Eduard Novikov

The main prize of the 40th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) was awarded to the film by the Yakut director Eduard Novikov "The Tsar Bird".

The Special Jury Prize went to the film "Nu" by the director and actress of the Gogol Center, a native of China, Yang Ge.

Alexander Kott received the Best Director award for Spitak.

Italian actress Giovanna Mezzogiorno won the Best Actress award for Naples in Veil. Kieran Charnock was awarded Best Actor for his performance in the New Zealand film Lost.

The German-Brazilian film "The Cleaners" by Hans Block and Moritz Rizevik was recognized as the best documentary film. The prize for the best short film was given to the Palestinian-Lebanese film "Candy" by Rakan Mayasi.

• The action of the film "The Tsar Bird" takes place in Yakutia in the 1930s. The tape tells about an elderly couple who sheltered a starving eagle - the king bird. The film is based on the story of the Yakut author Vasily Yakovlev "The larch that has grown old with me."
• The Moscow Film Festival was first held in 1935, since 1959 it began to be held regularly. Director Nikita Mikhalkov has been the president of the festival since 1999.
