In St. Petersburg, Maria Kozhevatova, who was standing in a solitary picket, was detained during the Day of Silence action. This was announced to OVD-Info by the organizer of the action, a representative of the Alliance of Heterosexuals and LGBT for Equality Aleksey Sergeev.
According to Sergeev, Timur Bulatov, a local provocateur, came to the action against homophobia. The activists first moved away from the place where Bulatov was, but then he stood next to Kozhevatova, formally turning her single picket into a mass one. Bulatov himself was not detained, Sergeev said.
The action took place at the corner of Malaya Sadovaya Street and Nevsky Prospekt.
UPD 21:50 Kozhevatova was soon released from police department No. 28 without a protocol being drawn up, Sergeev said.
Timur Bulatov is known for such provocations against protests by opposition representatives and LGBT activists in St. Petersburg. In addition, he writes letters to various organizations that their employees are people of "non-traditional sexual orientation" and seeks their dismissal.
