In Yerevan, protests resumed

In Yerevan, after a two -day break, protests resumed. As the Radio Liberty correspondent reports, demonstrators conduct marches along almost all the streets of the city, block roads with garbage tanks and benches. In particular, roads were blocked to the square of the Republic - the Central Square of Yerevan. Today there should be a rally against the ruling Republican Party.

Previously, the oppositionist and leader of the protest movement Nikol Pashinyan called for the resume of the protest.

Since mid-April, shares have been held in Armenia against the appointment of former president of the country Serzh Sargsyan to the post of prime minister. On April 23, Sargsyan resigned, Dnako protests against the ruling Republican Party continued. The party has already stated that they would not put forward a candidate for the post of prime minister. The Dashnaktsutyun Party, which left the government coalition and the Opposition Party "Prospering Armenia" announced support in the election of Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan.

The US State Department urged all parties to refrain from violence and negotiate the formation of a new government of the country.
